Vehicle Volume Heading to Malang Rises 5.5% During Lunar New Year Holiday
PT Jasamarga Pandaan Malang (JPM) recorded a surge in vehicle volume passing through the Pandaan-Malang toll road in East Java during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday.
The number of vehicles entering and exiting Malang reached 214,634 units, an increase of approximately 5.5 per cent compared to the normal daily average of 203,480 vehicles.
JPM General Manager of Operations Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Guntur assured that all toll road services remained optimal to provide comfort and safety for road users during the extended holiday period.
“JPM remains on standby to ensure the best service for road users passing through the Pandaan-Malang Toll Road, including transaction services, traffic services, preservation services and rest area services,” said Reza on Monday (16/2), as quoted by detikJatim.
JPM data showed an increase in traffic volume from four days before to two days before Lunar New Year at every main toll gate along the Pandaan-Malang toll road section. The following is a breakdown of vehicle volumes recorded.
Firstly, at Purwodadi Gate, 11,008 vehicles entered Malang, up 9.89 per cent from the average of 10,017 vehicles. The number of vehicles leaving Malang was 11,862 units, up 9.87 per cent from the usual 10,796 vehicles.
Secondly, at Lawang Gate, 10,990 vehicles entered, up 10.08 per cent from the average of 9,984 vehicles. Exiting vehicles were recorded at 12,708 units, up 5.04 per cent from the normal 12,098 vehicles.
Thirdly, at Singosari Gate, 53,482 vehicles entered, up 6.7 per cent from the average of 50,122 vehicles. Exiting vehicles totalled 47,999 units, up 2.5 per cent from 46,837 vehicles.
Next, at Pakis Gate, 11,568 vehicles entered, up 5.98 per cent from the average of 10,915 vehicles. Exiting vehicles numbered 10,397 units, up 3.3 per cent from 10,067 vehicles.
Finally, at Malang Gate, 24,256 vehicles entered, up 9.3 per cent from the average of 22,194 vehicles. Exiting vehicles totalled 20,364 units, down 0.4 per cent from the normal 20,450 vehicles.
Separately, Malang Police Traffic Unit Patrol and Escort Head Inspector Andi Agung said traffic flow from Singosari toll gate towards Batu City and Malang had been busy but smooth since Monday morning.
“There has been an increase in volume during the long weekend, with traffic flow busy but smooth,” said Andi.
