Bandung Police (Polresta Bandung) recorded approximately 16,000 vehicles, both four-wheeled and two-wheeled, traversing the Nagreg route towards Garut and Tasikmalaya during the 2026 Eid exodus on Saturday, 14 March 2026, from morning until evening.

According to Bandung Police Chief Kombes Aldi Subartono, these figures demonstrate an increase in vehicle volume compared to the previous day. On the previous day, the volume of vehicles leaving Bandung was approximately 9,000 units, although this figure is estimated to represent inter-district movement rather than holiday exodus traffic.

“However, we believe this is mostly vehicles engaged in inter-district movement, not holiday travellers,” said Aldi, as quoted from Antara on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

Anticipating continued increases in vehicle volume, Aldi stated that police are preparing various measures to be implemented. These preparations involve collaboration with Garut and Tasikmalaya police, including temporary traffic flow stoppages at various points.

“With approval from the Directorate of Traffic, we will implement traffic delays. So when vehicle volume from Jakarta is higher, we will hold back traffic from Garut. We will direct traffic from here to Garut or Tasikmalaya using a one-way traffic pattern,” Aldi explained.

According to Aldi, this one-way traffic management will be implemented situationally, particularly on the two and three days before Eid 2026, which are predicted to be the peak period for the exodus towards Garut and Tasikmalaya.

As an additional precaution, Bandung Police have established posts along the Nagreg route and the route towards Sumedang. The 2026 Eid posts are equipped with medical personnel and ambulances, tow trucks, and security personnel from the Indonesian Armed Forces.

Several points on the exodus route are receiving particular attention, including the Cileunyi toll gate, Nagreg, Cimanggung Sumedang, and the Cikaledong incline. “These various preparations, including at the posts, ensure we are ready to immediately respond to locations, implement necessary traffic management measures, and implement engineering solutions as required based on developments that occur,” he said.
