Vehicle traffic on MBZ remains high to avoid peak return flow
PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) records high vehicle volumes passing through the Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) section, in line with the government’s appeal to avoid the peak Lebaran return flow on 28-29 March 2026. JJC President Director Hendri Taufik stated that road users are advised to schedule their journeys accordingly, given the high volume of vehicles returning to Jakarta during the Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah return period. “We urge road users to plan their trips outside the predicted peak times to avoid the density of the return flow,” he said in Bekasi, West Java, on Thursday. He asked road users intending to continue their journey before entering the MBZ elevated road access to utilise the 30% toll discount programme for the next two days starting today. This toll discount applies to road users making continuous journeys from the Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Semarang to the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate in Karawang Regency, which also serves as access before entering the MBZ section. Hendri noted that high traffic volumes through the MBZ elevated road section persisted until Wednesday (25/3), with a total of 53,189 vehicles returning to Jakarta, up 140.78% compared to normal traffic of 22,090 vehicles. Meanwhile, in the opposite direction, leaving Jakarta, 29,502 vehicles were recorded, an increase of 35.41% compared to normal traffic of 21,787 vehicles. “The comparison of vehicle volumes in both directions shows that traffic flow on the MBZ elevated road section is still dominated by vehicles heading to Jakarta,” he said. The company continues to urge all road users to prioritise safety by ensuring the driver’s and vehicle’s condition is optimal and maintaining sufficient battery power or fuel. Furthermore, to anticipate potential weather changes, especially rain conditions that can affect visibility and road surface conditions, so that the journey can proceed safely and comfortably until reaching the destination. Road users can also access the latest information or request toll road traffic services through the Jasa Marga Group’s 24-hour call centre at 133, Twitter @PTJASAMARGA, and the Travoy 4.5 application for iOS and Android users.
