Vehicle thieves apprehended
JAKARTA (JP): The West Jakarta police have arrested four
people believed to belong to one of the city's most wanted gangs,
and seized at least six stolen vehicles.
West Jakarta Police Chief Lt. Col. Hari Pribadi said yesterday
that detectives are still looking for other stolen cars which had
been sold to other parties.
The four suspects were arrested at different places in West
Jakarta yesterday, Hari told The Jakarta Post.
One of the suspects, identified as Asep, used to be in the
Indonesian Navy.
The other three were identified as Agus, Maswadi and Yacob.
Four Grand Extra Kijang vans, one Rocky Taft jeep and one
Mitsubishi sedan were recovered from the gang.
Police believe that the thieves had operated for several years
and had stole dozens of cars.
"Their operation area covered West Jakarta, Bandung and Serang
in West Java, and Yogyakarta," Hari said. (bsr)
