Vehicle Testing Standards at BPLJSKB Proving Ground in Bekasi
JAKARTA - The Proving Ground of the Balai Pengujian Laik Jalan dan Sertifikasi Kendaraan Bermotor (BPLJSKB) in Cibitung, Bekasi, West Java, features a variety of testing facilities.
The existence of BPLJSKB as a technical implementing unit under the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), particularly the Directorate General of Land Transportation, plays a very important role.
Functionally, BPLJSKB is tasked with conducting type testing and certification of motor vehicles to ensure that vehicles produced, assembled, modified, or imported into Indonesia meet technical requirements and are roadworthy before being used by the public.
With a sufficiently diverse range of testing facilities, even claimed to be one of the most complete in Southeast Asia, the BPLJSKB proving ground currently also upholds high testing standards.
According to Iman, the vehicle testing standards applied by BPLJSKB currently refer to national and international standards.
Meanwhile, for international testing standards, BPLJSKB refers to global vehicle homologation regulations such as United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Regulation as well as ISO/IEC 17025 as the international standard for laboratory competence in conducting motor vehicle testing.
