Purchasing power in Lampung Province showed a positive trend in the first quarter of 2026. This is reflected in the increased transactions for new motor vehicle purchases from January to March 2026.

Based on a comparison between January–March 2025 and January–March 2026, the number of new vehicles in Lampung rose from 32,858 units to 39,817 units. This represents an increase of 6,959 units or growth of around 21 percent compared to the same period the previous year.

The increase is not only evident in the number of vehicles but also in their economic value. In the first quarter of 2026, the total transaction value for new motor vehicle purchases in Lampung is estimated to reach Rp2.5 trillion. This value is the accumulation of transactions for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, calculated from motor vehicle tax components and motor vehicle re-registration fees. In detail, two-wheeled vehicle transactions are estimated at Rp1.03 trillion, while four-wheeled vehicles contribute around Rp1.49 trillion.

The Head of the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) of Lampung Province, Saipul, stated that this achievement signals strengthening consumption among the people of Lampung in the first quarter of 2026.

“This increase shows that the purchasing power of Lampung’s residents continues to improve. Motor vehicle purchases as durable goods reflect the rising financial capability of the community, ease of access to financing, and confidence in the regional economic conditions,” said Saipul.

According to him, motor vehicle transactions also have a broad impact on the regional economy. “The circulation of money reaching around Rp2.5 trillion also drives various sectors, such as financing, insurance, vehicle dealerships, workshops, and spare parts trade,” he said. “This has a positive impact on increasing regional revenues through motor vehicle taxes and re-registration fees.”

The increase in new vehicle purchases in the first quarter of 2026 not only reflects the rising mobility needs of the community but also serves as an indicator of improving economic activity in Lampung.

This momentum is hoped to be sustained through improvements in public services, administrative ease, infrastructure strengthening, and adaptive economic policies to maintain optimism and purchasing power among the people.
