Vehicle Certification Process Before Being Sold in Indonesia

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The existence of the proving ground facility at the Vehicle Testing and Certification Centre (BPLJSKB) in Bekasi, West Java, simplifies the type testing and certification process for motor vehicles.
This is done to ensure that vehicles produced, assembled, modified, or imported into Indonesia meet technical requirements and are roadworthy before being used by the public.
In addition, according to the Head of BPLJSKB, Iman Sukandar, the proving ground plays an important role in supporting the independence of the national automotive industry.
“The national automotive industry is no longer too dependent on testing facilities abroad. This can speed up the certification process, increase cost efficiency and industrial competitiveness, attract investors, and become a centre for national automotive research and innovation,” said Iman a few days ago to KOMPAS.com.
For the record, currently the BPLJSKB proving ground facility is the most complete government-owned international standard testing facility in Southeast Asia.

Next, testing is carried out at the BPLJSKB according to the schedule that has been set;
The test results from the BPLJSKB are then submitted to the Directorate General of Land Transportation to issue a Type Test Certificate (SUT) for each type that has met the technical requirements and is roadworthy;
This SUT is the basis for the issuance of a Type Test Registration Certificate (SRUT) for each vehicle that will be marketed in Indonesia.
