Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - The build-up of vehicles on the Pantura route section in Bekasi Regency, West Java, spanning one kilometre from the Lotte Mart Cikarang point to the Sentra Grosir Cikarang (SGC) intersection on H+6 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, is considered safe and under control.

“The situation remains safe and controlled; indeed, we are approaching the peak of the second wave return flow, and we have also prepared anticipatory measures,” said Acting Head of the Bekasi Regency Transportation Agency, Agus Budiono, in Cikarang on Friday.

He stated that traffic situation monitoring is continuously conducted with the police, including on the Pantura route which often experiences density, particularly at the SGC intersection, the Telaga Asih Toll junction, and the Cibitung Main Market to South Tambun.

His side has also prepared traffic engineering to anticipate the surge in vehicle volume passing through that arterial route on 28-29 March 2026, coinciding with the predicted return flow.

“We continue to monitor the situation; if there is an increase in vehicle volume during the peak of the second wave return flow, barriers will be installed to ensure the return flow through the arterial route runs smoothly, as the traffic lights are currently on warning light,” he said.

He also advised all road users to always prioritise safety by ensuring physical condition and vehicle are in prime condition, and to immediately rest at the nearest mudik post if experiencing fatigue.

“Remain cautious and comply with traffic rules during the return journey. For the SGC intersection, we will revert to normal traffic regulation in the intersection area after the peak return flow is over,” he stated.

“Yes, earlier before arriving here (SGC), there was congestion about one kilometre. Previously it was smooth, and hopefully it remains smooth until the destination,” he said.

According to him, the build-up occurred due to a significant surge in the number of vehicles passing through, plus the opening of road dividers which also affected the traffic flow in the densest return direction towards Jakarta.

“Earlier I saw it was opened, whereas during the outbound flow yesterday the barriers were closed. As a result, it was less smooth because it alternates with the other direction at the SGC intersection. Local residents’ vehicle activity in the SGC area is also known to be dense on normal days. As for the road surface condition, it’s already good,” he said.
