VEEP: nation can't become strong without businessmen
Makassar (ANTARA News) - It was impossible for a nation in the world to become strong without an active role of businessmen in building that nation, Vice President M Jusuf Kalla said.
Speaking on the occasion of opening the 8th Makassar Bugisenese Businessmen Meeting here on Saturday, the officials and the leaders should be able to push for the revival of entrepreneurship spirit.
"A good governor or mayor/district head is the one who can give more guidance to businessmen in their areas," Kalla said in a big applause from Bugisnese businessmen from many countries and provinces of Indonesia who attended the event.
The VP then put China as an example, because that country had succeeded in recording their economic growth after giving a big opportunity to their businessmen to make a progress.
He also stressed that South Sulawesi province had recorded a relatively better economic growth if compared to other provinces. This is actually inseparable from perserverance of their businessmen were doing their businesses in local, national and international level.
Therefore, the vice president asked for a better interaction between the government and businessmen in their respective region in a bid to create a sustainable development.
"A good governor or mayor/district head is the one who is reluctant to extort businessmen, but on the other hand a good businessman is the one who does not want to cheat the governor or district head," he said. (*)
