VDSAT to continue project

CIANJUR, West Java (JP): Property company PT Villa Del Sol Agro Tourism (VDSAT) is to continue the construction of an agro- tourism project in Cikanyere village, Pacet district, Cianjur regency, West Java, after heavy rain put work on hold last year.

VDSAT president Robert Max Sinaulan said his firm has obtained all documents needed for the construction of the 143-hectare agro-tourism project.

"We expect to meet West Java Governor R. Nuriana soon to ask his permission to complete the project," Sinaulan said.

The local administration ordered the company to postpone the project due to heavy rains last September.

Sinaulan said he hoped the land cutting and filling would soon resume as the dry season is coming.

The project, including the building of a hotel, an 18-hole golf course and villas, will cost approximately Rp 50 billion (US$21.5 million).

He said the project is not located in a village declared restricted by the Bogor administration.

The government has announced that the Puncak area, except for nine villages, is closed to new buildings.

President Soeharto has instructed State Minister for National Development Planning Board Ginandjar Kartasasmita to have the Puncak area, a weekend getaway location for Jakartans, returned to a water catchment area for Jakarta.

The instruction was made soon after heavy floods hit Jakarta in January and February resulting in the deaths of 30 people. (jun)
