The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, or the Hajj Ministry, is perfecting the readiness of facilities for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims ahead of the peak Wuquf in Arafah. The Ministry is ensuring that all infrastructure and facilities, such as room coolers and sanitation systems, function optimally before the pilgrims’ arrival.

Director General of Hajj Services at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Ian Heriyawan, led an inspection at several maktabs managed by Syarikah Al Bait Guest (Dhuyuf Al-Bait), including Maktab 62 in the Arafah area.

“We want to ensure that all Indonesian Hajj pilgrims can enter the tents in Arafah and perform the Wuquf worship calmly and reverently. It must be ensured that we check and recheck at every moment until all pilgrims’ rights are fulfilled,” said Ian in Arafah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, 10 May 2026, quoted from a written statement on the Ministry of Hajj website.

Ian also detailed several facilities provided for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during Wuquf in Arafah. One of them is surveillance cameras (CCTV) in every corridor of the maktab operating non-stop. Then, the tent floors are covered with thick additional structures to dampen desert heat, carpeted, and equipped with new foam mattresses complete with pillows and two blankets for each pilgrim.

Furthermore, the Hajj Ministry equips each tent with two to three cooling units or ACs. This is to anticipate the scorching weather temperatures in Arafah.

On the other hand, in addition to providing sitting, squatting, and special toilets for the disabled, the Hajj Ministry is also preparing and installing urinal frames outside the men’s toilet cubicles to reduce queues during the Hajj peak.

Furthermore, regarding the health of Hajj pilgrims during Wuquf, the Ministry ensures the availability of maktab clinics with wheelchairs, prayer rooms, and special customer service rooms.

According to Ian, the main facilities for performing Wuquf in Arafah are already installed. However, he provided several notes regarding environmental cleanliness and the completion of inter-tent partitions. He gave a five-day deadline for the Syarikah party to complete all Wuquf preparations.

“We will recheck in the next five days, namely on Thursday. The sector heads have also been asked to inspect the locations directly so they know exactly where the pilgrims are placed and can respond immediately if there are any issues,” said Ian.

He assured that periodic supervision continues to be carried out by a joint team from the Hajj Ministry along with catering and transportation supervisors. This is said to guarantee service standards in accordance with the agreed contract for the success of the 1447 Hijriah or 2026 CE Hajj organisation.
