Various activities mark National Children's Day across Indonesia
A number of children showed off their decorated cakes during a National Children’s Day commemoration in the courtyard of the Papua Governor’s Office on Thursday (23/7/2026). The competition, organised by the Papua Province Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning, aimed to develop children’s creativity while enlivening the National Children’s Day celebrations.
In Solo, Central Java, students at SD Negeri Mojosongo 3, accompanied by their teachers, played the traditional game ‘bambu gila’ to mark the occasion. The school held the event to preserve traditional Indonesian games and to limit children’s use of gadgets, encouraging physical and social activities for their optimal growth and development. Other students were seen playing traditional games such as bekel and congklak.
Meanwhile, at Surabaya Gubeng Station in East Java, officers from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 8 Surabaya distributed backpacks to child passengers in commemoration of National Children’s Day.
