Prabowo Volunteers to Pursue Legal Action
Prabowo volunteers under Arus Bawah Prabowo (ABP) will pursue legal action regarding Amien Rais’s statement deemed provocative. ABP assesses that the statement has damaged the reputation of Prabowo and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
“Amien Rais’s utterance is a reckless personal attack on President Prabowo Subianto and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. This is no longer criticism, but rather baseless heinous accusations forced as if they were truth. This statement is clearly hallucinatory and misleading to the public,” said ABP DPP Chairman Supriyanto in his statement on Saturday (2/5/2026).
Supriyanto views the narrative built by Amien Rais as crossing the line of decency. According to him, Amien Rais has dragged personal morality issues without accountable evidence. He states that the statement has the potential to damage political stability and public trust in the government.
“If criticism is delivered with data and arguments, it is healthy. But if what is spread is wild assumptions, gossip, and heinous insinuations, it is no longer democracy. It is character assassination,” said Supriyanto.
Supriyanto assured that they are preparing legal steps focused on alleged defamation. According to him, Amien’s statement resembles delusional opinion.
“Statements like this are more like forced delusional opinions becoming facts. It is very regrettable if they come from a figure once known as part of the reform movement,” he added.
Communications Minister Calls It Character Assassination
Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid also spoke out regarding Amien Rais’s video on the closeness between Prabowo and Teddy. Meutya described the video as character assassination.
“The Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi) has identified the spread of a video containing slanderous narratives, character assassination, and personal attacks directed at the President of Indonesia. The video was uploaded by the Chairman of the Shura Council of Partai Ummat,” said Meutya in an Instagram post @kemkomdigi on Saturday (2/5/2026).
Meutya stated that Amien Rais’s statement contains hate speech. She assessed that it has the potential to divide the nation.
“Komdigi emphasises that the content of the video is a hoax, slander, and contains hate speech. The narrative built is an effort to demean the dignity of the country’s highest leader, lacks factual basis, and is part of provocation to create public unrest. This has the potential to divide the nation,” said Meutya.
“The digital democracy space is a space for exchanging ideas, not a space for producing hate content that attacks anyone’s dignity,” she added.
Meutya stated that Komdigi will take steps in accordance with applicable laws. According to her, this is regulated under the ITE Law Number 1 of 2024 Article 27A and Article 28 (2).
Partai Ummat Says Amien Rais Is Offside
Partai Ummat DPP Chairman Aznur Syamsu also spoke out regarding Amien Rais’s statement alluding to the closeness between Prabowo and Teddy. Aznur emphasised that Amien Rais’s statement is not related to his party.
“That is Pak Amien’s personal statement, it has no connection to Partai Ummat,” said Aznur on Saturday (2/5/2026).
Aznur admitted to deeply regretting the statement. Especially since Amien Rais is a national figure.
“We from Partai Ummat regret statements like that from Pak Amien Rais, especially as he is a figure, at least he has been a figure,” he said.
He reiterated that the statement is not related to national and state issues. Aznur stated that Amien Rais has gone offside.
“It has no connection to current national and state issues. Pak Amien Rais is offside,” he added.
