Vance: US Forces Must Not Depend on Foreign-Made Equipment
Washington (ANTARA) - United States forces must not depend on military equipment produced abroad, stated US Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday.
“For too long, this country has allowed the American dream to be outsourced, allowing others to manufacture various pieces of equipment,” said Vance after attending a groundbreaking ceremony for a shipyard project at the Port of Brownsville, Texas.
“We have allowed our forces to go to war with equipment that is not made by our own people… No longer,” he added.
The Vice President also praised the leadership of US President Donald Trump and his administration, stating that they have made this vision a reality.
In the Fiscal Year 2027 report, the US Department of War has proposed a budget of over US$30 billion (approximately IDR 537.1 trillion). This budget aims to secure a vertically integrated defence supply chain, involving investments in raw mineral mining, the production of critical chemicals, advanced microelectronics infrastructure, and the construction of large-capacity vessels.
