Vance admits US 'accidentally' struck civilians during military operations

Washington (ANTARA) - United States Vice President J.D. Vance has acknowledged the possibility that attacks carried out by US forces may have accidentally hit civilians.

Vance stated this on Thursday (3/9), amidst circulating reports regarding a US strike on a civilian wedding in southern Iran.

“The US never targets civilians in combat. We would never do that. We also would not be able to do that. However, unfortunately, it is clear that something may have happened. When our military makes mistakes, they learn from those mistakes so they can improve themselves,” said Vance.

The US is currently investigating the incident, he added.

On Tuesday night, the US launched a new series of large-scale attacks against several targets in Iran.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the attacks targeted facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including air defence systems, radar stations, naval assets, and communication facilities.

Iran responded by attacking US military infrastructure in several countries across the Middle East.
