Vale Wins Two Awards at HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Awards 2026
PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PT Vale), a sustainable and integrated nickel mining company, has achieved two awards at the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Awards 2026: ‘HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2026’ and the ‘HR ASIA People Transformation Award 2026’. The awards were accepted by Ranty Astari Rachman, Corporate Secretary, and Gandi Husodo, Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition, Performance Management & EVP of PT Vale, during the ceremony in Jakarta.
Organised by Business Media International (BMI), the HR Asia Awards utilise the ‘TEAM Assessment’ methodology, a proprietary instrument that measures employee engagement, attitude, motivation, and work experience. This allows for cross-industry and cross-country comparisons, making the awards a valid benchmark for businesses across Asia.
For PT Vale, these accolades recognise the company’s long-term investment in building a safe and inclusive working environment capable of developing talent to support sustainable business growth. With over 3,000 employees across various operational areas, the company continues to strengthen its human resource development strategy as an integral part of Indonesia’s critical mineral downstreaming and transformation agenda.
This commitment is demonstrated through various talent development programmes, such as the Cooperative Education Program (Co-Ops) conducted with Hasanuddin University to bridge the gap between academia and industry. In the final period of 2025, 16 students were selected from 48 candidates to undergo six-month full-time internships within PT Vale’s operations.
Internal investments in employee development also remain robust. Throughout 2024, 370 employees received promotions, while 143 non-staff employees obtained national professional certifications through the Professional Certification Institute (LSP). All employees undergo formal performance assessments as part of a structured career development process.
PT Vale’s commitment to human development is also reflected in its approach to empowering local communities. Since commencing operations, the company has engaged over 11,000 local community members as employees or partners, with 87 per cent originating from East Luwu and South Sulawesi. To strengthen local workforce readiness, PT Vale also runs competency enhancement programmes, including Vocational Short-Term Training (VST) developed alongside the East Luwu Regency Government and Sorowako Polytechnic.
Beyond talent development, PT Vale continues to promote a more inclusive work environment. Currently, women comprise 11.6 per cent of the total workforce, including 17 women in managerial positions. PT Vale also employs 70 persons with disabilities across various organisational functions and applies the principle of equal remuneration for equal work, regardless of gender.
The company also operates a Wellness Programme involving 623 employees and contractors, with 98 per cent of active participants reporting improved health and energy levels.
Commenting on the awards, the President Director and Chief Executive Officer of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, Bernardus Irmanto, stated that the company’s success in building an excellent workplace is inseparable from its long-term commitment to human development. “Through discipline and integrity, we want to ensure PT Vale’s tangible contribution to Indonesia’s energy sovereignty and sustainable development. Our employees are at the heart of that promise, and these awards confirm that how we treat our workforce is inseparable from how we conduct our business,” he said.
The HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2026 award complements various other recognitions received by PT Vale in the fields of sustainability, governance, and environmental management. For the company, sustainability is measured not only by how natural resources are managed but also by how the people driving the business are empowered and developed. In line with its commitment to supporting the national downstreaming agenda and the global energy transition, investment in talent, work culture, and employee well-being will remain the primary foundation for building a more responsible, inclusive, and sustainable mining company for Indonesia.
