Vale Indonesia Records Nickel Ore Sales of 2 Million Tonnes in First Half of 2026
PT Vale Indonesia Tbk President Director and CEO Bernardus Irmanto announced that the company, located in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, recorded nickel ore sales of more than two million tonnes in the first half of 2026. He described the sales achievement as an important milestone for the integrated nickel mining and processing company, reflecting the dedication and collaboration in supporting the company’s responsible growth.
At the same time, the company, which is part of the state-owned mining holding Mineral Industri Indonesia, also inaugurated the Pevalea Dormitory, an investment aimed at employee welfare. The presence of the dormitory symbolises the company’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its employees while strengthening a productive and sustainable work culture.
The company, designed to reinforce the national downstream strategy, has also taken delivery of an autoclave, a key piece of equipment for the Sambalagi High-Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) project. The addition of this equipment supports the construction of a low-carbon nickel processing facility, which is part of the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) Morowali and a National Strategic Project (PSN).
Irmanto added that the arrival of the autoclave represents the transformation of Indonesia’s mining industry towards downstream processing that generates higher added value. With HPAL technology, limonite ore, which previously had limited economic value, can be processed into mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP), a key raw material for the electric vehicle battery industry. This means PT Vale is not only strengthening the global electric vehicle supply chain but also contributing to Indonesia’s energy transition and low-carbon economy agenda.
