Uzbekistan wins 3 golds at Bogor boxing c'ship

BOGOR, West Java (AP): Turgunov Tulkun outpointed Rico
Maspaitela of Indonesia to take the featherweight crown and
become one of three Uzbeks to claim titles at the 18th President
Cup amateur boxing tournament Saturday.

Sulaemanov Timur beat Alexander Leonov for the lightweight
gold and Ibraginov Timur decisioned Regan Poley of New Zealand
for the light heavy gold on the final day of the event.
Uzbekistan missed a chance for another gold when Denis Inkim of
Russia, stopped Kulkov Yan in the fourth round for the
middleweight title.

Indonesia, Thailand and New Zealand won a pair of golds each.
Damianus Jordan and Hermensen Ballo claimed the victories for the
hosts by taking the light fly and flyweight divisions.
Parkporn Jang Pogar and Pornchai Thong captured the welter and
light middleweight titles for Thailand.

New Zealand captured the heaviest divisions: Gart da Silva
outpointing Russian Vladimir Sokolov for the heavyweight gold and
Faii Falmamoe beating another Russian, Andrekou Taseevich for the
super heavyweight crown.

Hussein Hussein of Australia outpointed Kazumasa Tsujimoto of
Japan for the bantamweight title and American Larry Mosley won in
a walkover against Maxim Choudakov of Russia for the light welter
gold.

Mosley, the only American but most impressive boxer among 24
Saturday's finalists, won when Choudakov failed to show.
