Uya Kuya Denies Owning MBG Kitchens, Reports 10 Social Media Accounts
Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Surya Utama or Uya Kuya, stated that reports on social media claiming he owns 750 free nutritious meal kitchens (MBG) are hoaxes. According to this politician from the National Mandate Party, the accusation is implausible due to the difficulty in obtaining permits to manage nutritional fulfilment service units (SPPG). Uya stated he does not own a single MBG kitchen. “People are making hoax news saying I have 750 kitchens. It’s like they think opening a kitchen is as easy as selling cilok in front of a school; it’s not that simple,” said Uya at the DPR complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 April 2026. Uya suspects the allegations are intended to slander him and tarnish the priority programme of President Prabowo Subianto. Uya admitted to reporting ten social media accounts that spread the news to Metro Jaya Police because he feels harmed. He took this legal step because he does not want to become a target of mob anger like when his house was ransacked in August 2025. According to Uya, reporting to the police is a way to clarify the accusations and anticipate the hoax spreading further due to misunderstandings. “I remember the incident yesterday; it was traumatic. Even my house was ransacked because of circulating hoax news,” he said. Head of Public Relations Division of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed that Uya Kuya has reported the dissemination of false news regarding the ownership of 750 MBG kitchens. “Yes, it’s true (there is a report), dissemination of false news,” said Budi as quoted from Antara. Based on gathered information, the report has been registered with number STTP/B/2746/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA on 18 April 2026 at 22:10 WIB. In the report, Uya Kuya reported regarding alleged criminal acts of information and electronic transactions under Law Number 1/2024 on the Second Amendment to Law Number 11/2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions as referred to in Article 51 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 35 and/or Article 263 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 264 of the Criminal Code on 18 April 2026.
