Utility Network Project Prompts Traffic Diversions on Jalan Kramat Raya and Matraman
Construction work on utility network infrastructure will be carried out on Jalan Kramat Raya, Central Jakarta, and Jalan Matraman Raya, East Jakarta. The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) will implement phased traffic diversions on these roads.
“This infrastructure work includes the installation of manhole frames, manhole covers, precast handholes, HDPE pipes, and finishing works,” according to a statement on the Central Jakarta City Government website on Tuesday (18/8/2026).
Traffic diversions are being applied in stages to maintain smooth traffic flow and road safety during the construction period, which is being undertaken by the Jakarta Bina Marga Office. Transjakarta bus separators will be dismantled in stages according to the project locations to add vehicle lanes.
Work on the west side of Jalan Kramat Raya will be carried out from in front of the old Pasar Kenari to in front of Bank Mandiri. This section has 52 manhole points along 1.2 kilometres.
The work will be carried out in stages from 8 August to 30 November 2026. During the construction of the utility network infrastructure, lane narrowing will occur, creating potential congestion.
“Lane impact: During the works, there will be narrowing of the road body and reduction of lane width in the work area,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, on Jalan Matraman Raya, the utility network infrastructure work will be carried out from Jalan Kesatria 1 to Simpang Matraman. This section will have 48 manhole points along 1.3 km, with work scheduled from 1 September to 26 November.
“During the works, there will be narrowing of the road body and reduction of lane width,” the statement said.
The Transjakarta bus separator on Jalan Matraman Raya will also be dismantled in stages according to the ongoing project to add vehicle lanes.
“To reduce potential congestion, the Transjakarta separator along the work area will be shifted flexibly according to field needs, so Transjakarta buses will operate in mixed traffic (sharing lanes),” the statement said.
Dishub said PT Scitech Utama, as the contractor for the utility network infrastructure construction on Jalan Kramat Raya and Jalan Matraman Raya, bears full responsibility for the safety and security of road users (motorised and non-motorised) at the construction sites.
“Road users are advised to avoid these roads and to comply with the established traffic arrangements, obey traffic signs and instructions from officers in the field, and prioritise road safety,” the statement said.
