Utilise 30 Percent Toll Discount to Return to Hometown
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Users of the Trans-Java Toll Road can take advantage of a 30 percent toll fee discount during the Eid al-Fitr return flow period, namely on 26-27 March 2026. This policy is implemented on several major toll sections to encourage traffic distribution and reduce vehicle density. Based on information released by the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), the discount applies to continuous journeys on several strategic sections. On Thursday, 26 March 2026, a 30 percent toll discount is applied to the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road section with the route from Merak Toll Gate (GT) to Cikupa GT. Meanwhile, for the Batang-Semarang Toll Road section, a larger 46 percent toll discount is given during the same period. In the following period, the discount is still applied on the Batang-Semarang Toll with a different amount, namely 23 percent applied on 28-31 March 2026. This toll discount policy only applies to road users making long-distance (continuous) journeys from the origin toll gate to the destination toll gate without exiting in the middle (barrier gate to barrier gate). The implementation of the toll discount is expected to help smooth the return flow and provide cost relief for the public returning to their hometowns after the Eid holiday. More than 2.5 million vehicles were recorded as not yet returning to Jakarta until the peak of the 2026 Eid return flow. This was stated by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo during the Joint Return Flow Monitoring in Bekasi, West Java, on Wednesday (25/3/2026). The National Police Chief explained that until now, around 2,040,000 vehicles have returned to Jakarta. “That means, there is still a remainder from approximately 2,521,229 vehicles that left Jakarta. Minus 2,040,000, that is what becomes our homework to unravel in activities related to the peak return flow,” he said.
