UT Graduation: Rector Urges Integrity and Anti-Corruption Stance

Universitas Terbuka (UT) Rector Ali Muktiyanto has urged graduates to make integrity a value they continue to uphold after completing their education. He stated that university graduates are not only required to possess competence but also to become role models in society.

“We view integrity as a crucial asset for our nation’s struggle. UT, with its massive number of graduates, is in a very strategic position to become an example,” Ali said during a press conference at the UT Convention Center in South Tangerang on Tuesday (28/7/2026).

Ali noted that integrity should not only be demonstrated during one’s studies but must also be reflected in daily life after graduation. He expressed hope that UT graduates would show honesty, responsibility, and a commitment to ethical values in both the workplace and the community.

“The graduates must prove that integrity is real and can be practised earnestly. That is one of the keys to fighting the culture of corruption,” Ali remarked.

At the UT Graduation for the 2025/2026 Even Semester, Region 3, a total of 1,773 graduates were confirmed. The ceremony carried the theme “Mencetak Generasi yang Inovatif, Berintegritas, dan Mendunia” (Producing an Innovative Generation with Integrity and a Global Outlook).

Among the graduates was the Acting Head of the Tambrauw Regency Education Office, Karel Nauw, who completed a Master of Management programme at UT Sorong. Also graduating was Vera Wati Basri, CEO of PT Trans Pacific Global, who earned her law degree through UT’s Overseas Programme.

Ali noted that the diversity of the graduates’ backgrounds demonstrates that higher education is accessible to all and serves as a means for lifelong learning. He emphasised that the competence gained during studies must be paired with integrity so that graduates can make a positive contribution to society and national development.
