USU admits 3,150 new students through SNBT pathway

Medan (ANTARA) – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has admitted 3,150 new students through the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) for the 2026/2027 academic year across S1, D4, and D3 programmes. The figures include 2,625 for undergraduate programmes, 289 for D4, and 236 for D3. USU Rector Prof Muryanto Amin said in Medan on Tuesday: ‘They passed the selection through exams held from 21 to 30 April 2026.’ USU also maintains its position among the top 10 state universities in Indonesia with the highest number of applicants for the 2026 SNBT, with 36,924 registrations. ‘We extend our congratulations to those who passed the 2026 SNBT. This is the fruit of your hard work and dedication. Seize this university opportunity to build integrity, expand knowledge, and strengthen leadership,’ he said. USU’s Vice Rector for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni Affairs, Prof Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, urged unsuccessful candidates not to lose heart. There are still opportunities to join USU through two other pathways: the Consortium of Western Indonesian State Universities’ Independent Admission Programme (SMM PTN Barat) and USU’s 2026 Independent Student Selection (SMM USU). These programmes offer opportunities for high school graduates to fill the remaining quotas at USU. ‘There are still significant opportunities for those wishing to join USU by applying via the SMM and SMM PTN Barat pathways. We hope they succeed in these routes,’ she said. Applications for the Consortium of Western Indonesian State Universities’ Independent Admission Programme (SMM PTN Barat) opened from 4 May to 11 June 2026. Meanwhile, USU’s Independent Student Selection (SMM USU) opened applications from 2 May to 10 June 2026, with details available at https://penerimaan-terpadu.usu.ac.id. Newly admitted USU students who passed the 2026 SNBT must complete online registration and submit UKT details. Key data entry and document uploads must be done online via https://registrasi.usu.ac.id between 25 May and 2 June 2026. ‘All prospective students are urged to carefully note all deadlines and steps. Missing these could result in their admission being revoked, rendering all previous efforts futile,’ the university warned.
