Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ustaz Syekh Ahmad Al Misry, or SAM, has been reported to the police over an alleged sexual harassment case involving five male students.

“Following the Hearing with the House of Representatives, we have requested that investigators promptly designate the suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case, Syekh Ahmad Al-Misry,” said the victims’ legal representative, Achmad Cholidin, to reporters in South Jakarta on Thursday.

Achmad emphasised that the victims are pressing the police to immediately name him as a suspect and bring him back to Indonesia from Egypt.

This way, he continued, they can cooperate with Interpol to have him extradited back to Indonesia to be held accountable for his actions.

According to him, the acts allegedly committed by SAM have caused severe trauma to the victims. Moreover, there are allegations of intimidation by SAM or his representatives against the victims to withdraw the case from the police, including attempts at bribery.

“There have been threats, even to victims in Egypt, not to pursue this matter at all, and attempts to provide funds to halt the proceedings, either by the suspect or his representatives,” he stated.

He explained that the case of alleged same-sex sexual harassment, which SAM is suspected of perpetrating against his students in the Bogor area, was reported to National Police Headquarters on 28 November 2025, under report number LP/B/586/XI/2025/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI dated 28 November 2025.

Another lawyer for the victims, Triyono Haryanto, revealed that they had held a Hearing with House Commission III on the case, together with the Directorate of Sexual and Domestic Violence Crimes and the Child Protection Unit of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, as well as the Witness and Victim Protection Agency, on 2 April 2026.

From the results of the hearing, it was concluded that the police should promptly designate SAM as a suspect in the alleged child harassment case.

“Immediately carry out detention to prevent new victims as well as attempts to destroy or eliminate evidence or to flee. Secondly, House Commission III requests that the Witness and Victim Protection Agency coordinate with the Directorate of Sexual and Domestic Violence Crimes of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency to ensure all sexual violence victims receive optimal protection and rights to restoration in accordance with the law,” he said.

Thirdly, he explained, House Commission III commits to monitoring and requesting the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency to provide monthly reports on the progress of the case handling to ensure that the law enforcement process is carried out professionally and accountably.

Fourth, all members of House Commission III request that the suspect be promptly designated and detained to prevent threats or the emergence of new victims.

“It is hoped that cooperation with Interpol will be promptly undertaken if Mr Syekh Ahmad Al Misry absconds and does not return to the homeland,” he said.
