Using This Method, Iranian Ships Deliver 4 Million Barrels of Oil Past US Blockade

TEHERAN— The oil shipment tracking platform “Tanker Trackers” reported on Sunday (27/4/2026) that approximately 4 million additional barrels of Iranian oil have successfully passed the US sea blockade.

Iran loaded 4.6 million barrels of crude oil at its ports. The platform added on its X account that, based on tracking data and satellite imagery, the estimated value of the Iranian oil shipment, reaching around $1.05 billion, has been returned to Iran after being intercepted by the US Navy.

The same source mentioned that the US Navy has seized an Iranian oil cargo worth approximately $380 million in the Indian Ocean, which appeared to be en route to the United States.

This data reinforces a Reuters report from three days ago, citing data analysis firm Vertexa, that around 10.7 million barrels of Iranian oil crossed the Strait of Hormuz between 13 and 21 April, after US sanctions came into effect on 13 April.

Vertexa data shows that the shipments were carried out using six tankers that disabled their tracking systems, a practice used to reduce route monitoring capabilities.

Vertexa also recorded 35 crossings of ships linked to Iran during the period from 13 to 22 April, indicating that Iranian shipping activity continues despite US restrictions.
