In the mass media and elsewhere, the decimal fraction is not
written uniformly. Some use a point [.] while others use a comma
[,].

In schools, pupils are taught to use a point. But, because of
influence from other countries, the writing of a decimal fraction
using a comma is gaining popularity here.

These two systems of writing a decimal fraction can be
confusing, particularly in financial transactions.

The use of a calculator can create further confusion, because
a calculator has been set to use a point for the writing of a
decimal fraction.

Therefore, standardization in this respect is urgently needed.
