Solo, Kompas.com - Using quality fuel not only affects engine performance but can also extend the lifespan of components in the vehicle’s fuel system. Iwan, owner of the Iwan Motor workshop in Solo, said that using petrol in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations keeps the vehicle’s maintenance intervals normal and does not require overly frequent servicing. ‘Using high-quality petrol will ensure maintenance intervals stay on schedule,’ Iwan told Kompas.com recently. He said that cars using fuel in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations generally require replacing the fuel pump every 80,000 km or 4 years. In addition, routine maintenance is carried out every 20,000 km or 1 year. ‘Meanwhile, using low-quality petrol forces consumers to perform maintenance, clean the fuel filter more often, and replace components earlier,’ Iwan said. He explained that low-quality fuel is more likely to leave more dirt deposits in the fuel system. ‘If the car uses low-quality petrol, the timing of component replacement and maintenance should be advanced to prevent a decline in performance,’ Iwan said. Therefore, vehicle owners are advised to use petrol that matches the engine specifications and the manufacturer’s recommendations so that the car’s performance remains optimal, fuel consumption is more efficient, and fuel-system components such as filters and the fuel pump last longer.
