REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Indonesian Energy Risk Management Association (AMREI), supported by AIDA Consultant & Smart, held the National AMREI 2026 Training titled ‘Let’s Play Risk Culture Boardgame & National Development Risk Management (MRPN) Awareness’ on Wednesday (1/4/2026). This training serves as a strategic and practical approach for professionals from state-owned enterprises (BUMN), regional state-owned enterprises (BUMD), ministries, state institutions, and local governments in implementing risk management and cultivating Risk Culture.

The event involved 68 offline participants and 25 online participants from various ministries, state institutions, BUMN, BUMD, private energy sector companies, and entities such as MUI Energi. This initiative is expected to strengthen synergy among practitioners in developing risk management capacity in the energy sector.

The training utilised an interactive board game to build risk culture. In the simulation, participants actively took decisions in real-time energy crisis scenarios. This gamification approach has proven effective. In similar trainings, facilitators ensured all participants understood the game mechanics and learning insights.

AIDA Consultant’s leader and AMREI’s General Secretary, Mohamad Soleh, stated that Risk Management is not merely a document. According to him, Risk Management is a thought process, a way of acting, and a culture.

“This means that interactive learning through board games is expected to truly instil risk culture in participants, not only intellectually but also emotionally,” said Soleh.

In addition to risk culture, the training also emphasised awareness of National Development Risk Management (MRPN) in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 39/2023. Participants were reminded that current strategic risks are cross-sectoral and cannot be addressed alone.

In the MRPN Awareness materials, they were encouraged to incorporate strategic risk issues into the MRPN framework and collaborate across ministries/institutions to manage those strategic risks. Thus, this training supports the objectives of Presidential Regulation 39/2023 on establishing a collaborative MRPN mechanism to enhance the effectiveness of national risk management.

Soleh emphasised that the training aims to foster a sense of belonging and crisis awareness among participants. These are two important foundations in facing complex business dynamics.

Overall, participants gave positive responses to the Risk Culture board game method. They even stated that the game made risk management learning more engaging, easier to understand, and highly impactful.

The training has also sparked interest from other organisations to hold similar sessions. Moving forward, AIDA Consultant supports AMREI in becoming a strategic partner (strategic advisor) that functions as a facilitator of the cross-sector MRPN ecosystem and advisor in national development risk management programmes.
