Used Furniture Warehouse in Denpasar Catches Fire, Resident Hears Explosion

A used furniture warehouse on Jalan Mahendradatta, West Denpasar, caught fire after a resident heard an explosion from inside the building. The fire, which occurred on Tuesday (25/8/2026) at around 3.27pm WITA, destroyed all goods inside the warehouse, with losses estimated at Rp300 million.

A resident named Erna (61) was sweeping the road near the location when she heard an explosion coming from the warehouse. Erna then telephoned a warehouse employee to report the fire.

“The witness was sweeping the street when she heard an explosion from the scene,” explained West Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, First Inspector Ekky Nurwenda Putra, on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

The warehouse employee then called the fire brigade for assistance. Three fire engines were deployed to extinguish the flames.

At around 4.10pm WITA, the fire was fully extinguished. The flames did not spread to buildings adjacent to the warehouse.

According to detikBali’s observations, all goods inside the warehouse appeared completely burnt. Items such as wooden furniture, used air conditioners, tables and chairs were all destroyed.

The warehouse is an open structure used to store used hotel furniture. The scene has been cordoned off with police tape for investigation purposes.

Officers from the Denpasar Police Identification Unit are still processing the crime scene. Police have not yet determined the cause of the fire and are conducting further investigation.

As a result of the fire, police estimate losses at Rp300 million. Ekky confirmed there were no casualties in the incident.

“There were no fatalities or injuries in the fire,” he added.
