Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian automotive market has a climate quite different from previous years, as sales of new vehicles weaken, sales of used vehicles recorded an increase of up to 6 percent in January 2026. OLXmobbi’s director, Agung Iskandar, said that with the Eid al-Fitr celebration at the start of the year, it would further boost sales in the used segment. ‘In the Lebaran period of 2025, demand for used cars on OLX and sales of used cars on OLXmobbi both rose significantly a week after Eid. On OLX, demand rose by up to 22 percent, while on OLXmobbi the number of buyers also approached normal sales levels,’ Agung Iskandar said in a press release on Friday. Looking back to the Lebaran momentum last year, OLXmobbi recorded fairly positive demand. In the week preceding Eid al-Fitr, realised sales of used cars on OLXmobbi rose by 24 percent. With THR having been received, potential buyers usually become more willing to buy used vehicles they had targeted long in advance. ‘This motivates them to prepare a vehicle that is comfortable for mudik and for visiting relatives during Eid,’ he said. OLX notes that the public has a fairly high interest in several types of vehicles offered on OLX. For the Lebaran edition, the vehicle types most in demand by prospective buyers were MPVs at 22.2 percent, followed closely by SUVs at 21.7 percent, and hatchbacks at 17 percent. The models most in demand include Toyota Kijang Innova, Toyota Avanza, Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V, and Honda HR-V. In terms of brands, Toyota still leads market loyalty, followed by Honda and Suzuki in the next positions.
