Jakarta (ANTARA) - Yuke Yurike, Chair of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, stated that the use of technologies such as “Intermediate Treatment Facility” (ITF) or Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) needs to be accelerated so that waste processing problems in the capital can be resolved.

“We must immediately accelerate the construction and development of waste processing with high or modern technology,” said Yuke when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, the waste accumulation issue resulting from the incident at Bantargebang in several locations needs to be resolved immediately.

In addition, Jakarta’s waste processing, which produces 8,500 tonnes per day, requires a quick solution, one of which is by implementing technology in waste processing.

Because if waste processing technology is not developed, Jakarta will continue to rely on the Bantargebang TPST, and when disruptions occur, waste processing will be interrupted.

He added that when the use of waste processing technology is constrained, it must be identified as quickly as possible.

“Identify the obstacles faced in implementing this technology and resolve them immediately, so that construction and development can proceed quickly,” he said.

Yuke also encouraged the DKI Provincial Government to have a clear roadmap with measurable time targets for waste handling in Jakarta, including the use of high technology.

“Currently, we do not have a medium- and long-term roadmap for waste handling. Yet our waste production is very high, reaching 8,500 tonnes per day. Due to the absence of this roadmap, waste handling is still patchwork, and the development of high technology use is very slow,” he said.
