Use of security funds questioned

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: The Aceh provincial legislature has asked
the provincial administration to account for the use of Rp 10
billion (US$1 million) allocated to finance the military
operation to restore security and order in the restive province.

"The provincial government must account for the alleged
leakage in the funds allocated to finance the security operation
conducted by both the police and the military," Mustafa A.
Glanggang, chairman of the legislature's Commission A on
administrative affairs said in a meeting with the National Unity
and People's Protection Committee (BKBPM), here on Friday.

A. Mukhlis Mukhtas, a commission member, criticized Aceh
Governor Abdullah Puteh for using part of the security budget to
finance a seminar on Aceh that was officially opened by visiting
Vice President Haz.
