Use of SEA Games funds

Use of SEA Games funds

From Sinar Pagi

The community has so far received no response from the SEA
Games consortium nor from the central board of the Indonesian
Olympic Committee regarding specific expenditure allocations of
the funds collected for the 19th SEA Games.

This needs clarifying because most of the funds have come from
the community in the form of compulsory contributions. The
community therefore has a very strong reason to know how the
money is being spent.

We do not want a report like the one made by the consortium's
day-to-day chairman Bambang Yoga Soegama as quoted by Sinar Pagi
on Sept. 24. He said that the funds received until then amounted
to Rp 40.175 billion.

I think that was not a report but only a statement that is
true or false.

I apologize for asking the question, but my purpose is to
prevent collusion in the use of SEA Games funds as was the case
with the latest national games. Therefore, the community should
receive a report on the SEA Games funds.

What we need is openness in the handling of these funds.

One thing that needs explaining is the extension of the period
for the collection of SEA Games funds. I certainly disagreed with
this extension because it was a burden on the community. There
was also fear that counterfeit stickers may have been used in the
context of fund collection.

I again appeal to the consortium to provide the necessary
information. They should not leave the community, who were
contributors of the funds, waiting in vain for explanations.
