USA golfer wins Pro-Am tourney
JAKARTA (JP): Aaron Meeks of the U.S. fired a 66 and triumphed
at the Bali Sempati Golf Pro-Am tournament yesterday to mark the
closing of the US$250,000 event at the Bali Golf and Country
Club.
Departing from tradition, the pro-am tournament in Indonesia
is held after the main golf event to enable "VIPs" to compete. In
other countries the pro-am is usually held as the official and
final practice for the tournament proper.
The four-day Sempati Open concluded on Saturday and was won by
Brandt Jobe (USA), third was Meeks older brother Eric, behind
Chinese Taipei Lin Keng-Chi.
Gary Webb (USA), who won the 1993 Sampoerna Indonesia Open
played on the same course, was second with 67 and David Podlich
(USA) and Carlos Espinosa (Mexico) tied for third place. (rsl)
