US$78,000 grant from Japan
DEPOK: The Japanese government signed here on Thursday a grant contract worth US$78,000 for the education of needy local children at the grassroots level.
The document was signed at the office of the Almujahirin education foundation in Depok by Japanese ambassador to Indonesia Yukio Takeuchi and Maryunis, director of the foundation.
"This assistance is a direct gift from the Japanese people to the Indonesian people. Therefore we expect that the grant will be used effectively and efficiently for the school children at Almujahirn and those in surrounding areas," he said.
This was the seventh disbursement for the fiscal year 2000/2001. The total amount of funds distributed is $479,000. --JP
