DENPASAR: Four prominent U.S. women politicians will share their experiences with Balinese academics, government officials, councillors and activists during a meeting here on Friday to discuss decentralization.
Among the U.S. participants at the meeting, which will be hosted by the U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya, will be Jane Norton, who is Colorado's 46th Lieutenant Governor.
The discussion is to focus on issues related to the management of local budgets in the decentralization era.
The four U.S. politicians had visited Jakarta from Aug. 19 through Aug. 23 to join the American Council Young Political Leader conference.
During the conference, they met with other women politicians from Indonesia, Australia, the Philippines and Malaysia to talk about women and democracy.
They also met with members of the Women's Caucus in the House of Representatives in Jakarta and discussed women's issues in Indonesia. --JP
