US Warplane Lands at Husein Airport for Joint Exercises with 17 Nations

A US Air Force Boeing C-17 Globemaster III has landed at Husein Sastranegara Airport. The aircraft is reported to have flown in from Palembang.

The aircraft, which has a maximum takeoff weight of 265.3 tonnes, landed on Monday (31/08/2026) evening. Video documentation of the Globemaster III’s landing at Husein Airport was shared by the Instagram account @bdospotters_ng.

Local residents were startled by the arrival of the aircraft, as the roar of its engines was significantly more thunderous than that of typical commercial jets.

The Globemaster III departed from Husein Airport at approximately 21:00 WIB. According to specifications cited from the official US Air Force website, this aircraft frequently conducts flight missions transporting logistics and airborne troops.

The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, confirmed the event. He stated that Husein Airport serves as a logistics base typically used for Air Force aircraft landings.

“Husein serves as a logistics base for the Air Force. As far as I know, CN-295, Hercules C-130, and Airbus A400M aircraft are stationed there. Therefore, there may be cooperation with the United States. The Globemaster is here to ensure logistics training,” said Farhan, as reported by detikJabar on Tuesday (01/09/2026).

He added that there will be a military exercise agenda in the Bandung Regency area. The former member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) stated that the war games will be participated in by 17 nations.

“Because joint military exercises between the TNI and several friendly nations, including the United States, will be held in Bandung Regency. If I am not mistaken, there are 17 countries involved, including Australia, the United Kingdom, and Japan,” he said.
