US Warns Israel Against Attacking Iran

The United States government has reportedly issued a warning to Israel not to launch a military attack against Iran.

A report by Saudi Arabian news channel Al-Hadath, citing diplomatic sources on Friday (28/8), revealed that besides the Iran issue, Washington is also urging the Israeli military to maintain the current level of de-escalation with Syria.

On the other hand, several sources mentioned that Israel has conveyed official notification to Washington regarding their plans to continue limited and routine strike operations against targets in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

The tension in the Middle East region is a continuation of the military escalation that broke out on 28 February, when the US and Israel began launching air strikes against a number of strategic targets in Iran. Tehran subsequently retaliated against the wave of actions with reciprocal counter-attacks.

Entering mid-June, Tehran and Washington had actually signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at breaking the chain of hostility. However, not long after the agreement was signed, both parties became involved in mutual attacks once again.

To date, the geopolitical conflict has not found a permanent resolution, although no large-scale active battles or hostilities have been observed on the ground.

In order to end the conflict deadlock without triggering a new physical confrontation, the US government has now chosen to change its strategy by intensifying economic pressure and tightening financial sanctions against Tehran.
