US Wants Israel to Stay Out of Iran Attack

The administration of US President Donald Trump does not want Israel to be involved in strikes against Iran, according to a CNN report on Friday, citing two Israeli sources. The report stated this stance emerged despite Israel expressing its readiness to resume military operations against Iran. On Thursday, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) remain on high alert and are prepared to continue military action against Iran if necessary. One source said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to join the US strikes. The US military launched a series of major strikes against Iran in the early hours of Wednesday. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes were in retaliation for Iran’s actions against commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran said it had attacked US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. The Iranian government also accused Washington of violating a memorandum of understanding on the cessation of hostilities. Donald Trump stated on Wednesday morning that the ceasefire with Iran was no longer in effect.
