US VP Fumes, Dares to Hurl Serious Accusations at Israel
US Vice President JD Vance has accused certain parties within the Israeli government of attempting to influence American public opinion to derail Washington’s diplomacy with Iran. Vance made the accusation during an interview. He asserted his belief that there are individuals in the Israeli government trying to divert US policy because they want the military campaign to continue, while defending the agreement reached last month to halt the war with Iran. He also revealed an alleged influence campaign funded to sabotage the negotiation process. Citing a Time report, Vance said a former campaign manager for President Donald Trump was reportedly recruited on behalf of Israel to run a digital campaign aimed at shaping US public opinion regarding Israel and the conflict with Iran. ‘There was a very covert, very well-funded campaign to scuttle the negotiations and kill the deal,’ he stated. Vance added that he became a target of personal attacks for pushing a diplomatic resolution. ‘People have been viciously attacking me for literally trying to achieve the negotiating goals the president set for this country,’ he said. While acknowledging that every country tries to influence US policy, he argued it becomes a problem when such operations affect political decision-making in America. Vance also expressed continued support for the interim peace deal between the US and Iran reached last month, despite opposition from some quarters in Israel and recent escalations. When asked if the US would be involved in the latest conflict with Iran without Israeli influence, Vance replied, ‘Yes, I think so.’ He noted that President Donald Trump has always believed Iran should not have nuclear weapons, a view he shares. The statements are considered an unprecedented criticism of Israel from a sitting US vice president. Former Israeli diplomat Alon Pinkas said the accusations indicate Washington and Tel Aviv are currently out of alignment, calling the public accusation shocking and without precedent.
