US Vice President Vance Departs for Switzerland for Talks with Iran

US Vice President JD Vance has departed for Switzerland to attend talks with Iran, his Press Secretary Luke Schroeder said. “Vice President JD Vance has taken off from Washington, D.C., heading to Switzerland,” Schroeder wrote on the X platform on Sunday. Vance had previously told Fox News that he might join the US negotiating team in discussions with Iran in Switzerland in the coming days. Schroeder also attached a video to his post showing Vance boarding the aircraft. Vance had earlier cancelled his trip to Switzerland, where the first meeting between US and Iranian representatives, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, was scheduled to take place on 19 June. On Thursday, Vance said his departure depended on the arrival time of the Iranian delegation in Switzerland. On Saturday, the Swiss Foreign Ministry announced that the Iranian delegation had arrived in the country. Meanwhile, the office of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Sharif, accompanied by a high-level delegation, had departed from Islamabad to attend the talks between the United States and Iran scheduled for Sunday in Switzerland.
