US Vice President JD Vance Says Nuclear Inspectors Will Return to Iran

US Vice President JD Vance has stated that nuclear inspectors will “definitely” be allowed to return to Iran as part of a deal with Washington to end the war. In an interview with NBC News on Monday, Vance emphasised that international oversight is one of the crucial points in the memorandum of understanding agreed by both parties. “The fact is, one of the core parts of the deal is that the [International Atomic Energy Agency] and the United States will help Iran dismantle its highly enriched uranium stockpile, and that is laid out very clearly,” Vance said.

However, the specific terms regarding the future of Iran’s nuclear programme under the agreement remain unclear. The document has not been released to the public, and the two sides have so far provided differing accounts of what has been agreed. Pakistan, acting as mediator, reportedly stated that in-depth discussions on the nuclear issue will continue over the next 60 days under the framework of the ceasefire agreement. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly taken a hard line, insisting that Iran will never be allowed to possess weapons of mass destruction. Trump has even threatened that the US could resume military strikes if Iran fails to reach a satisfactory nuclear deal.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump further reinforced a unilateral commitment he claims Tehran has agreed to. “Iran has agreed to NEVER have a Nuclear Weapon! Also, the story that the US is paying Iran 300 Million Dollars is Fake News, put out by the Dumocrats!!!” Trump wrote. In the post, Trump not only addressed the status of Iran’s nuclear programme but also directly denied media reports concerning a sensitive financial incentive. He refuted rumours that Washington was considering establishing a massive $300 billion investment fund for Iran if the country complies with the final terms to end the war.
