US Urges Israel to Respect Middle East Peace Process

Washington (ANTARA) - US Vice President J.D. Vance has stated that Israel should respect the peace process in the Middle East, as it will benefit both Israeli citizens and other nations in the region. “Fundamentally, Israelis, like all other parties, must respect this peace process, which is essentially beneficial to them and to the entire region,” Vance said during a press conference in Washington D.C. on Thursday (18/6). Vance noted that the US maintains high-level contact with Israel and the Gulf states almost daily. Earlier on Thursday, Iran and the US remotely signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end the military conflict that has been ongoing since 28 February. Iran also committed not to acquire nuclear weapons, while the issue of Iran’s nuclear programme will be resolved through a separate agreement. Both parties are expected to negotiate this issue over the next 60 days. For Iran, the primary objective is the lifting of the series of sanctions imposed upon it.
