Washington (ANTARA) - Members of Congress and US allies are requesting that the US Department of Defense explain the details of the Golden Dome missile defence system project, including its spending plans for the next two years, according to a Bloomberg report on Friday.

Several lawmakers believe the project lacks transparency and is unrealistic in terms of costs and timelines.

They allocated nearly $25 billion (approximately Rp424.5 trillion) for the Golden Dome project as part of last year’s draft bill.

However, those lawmakers are now complaining that without additional information, they cannot assess available resources, the report stated.

Additionally, American taxpayers, the defence industry, and US allies expect further clarity. Without more detailed explanations, contractors cannot make decisions on major investments in new developments and production expansions.

Previously, in May 2025, US President Donald Trump launched the Golden Dome project, estimated to cost nearly $175 billion (approximately Rp2.97 quadrillion).

The layered shield will integrate land, sea, and space-based systems to protect America from missile threats. The first major test of Golden Dome is scheduled for the end of 2028.
