US Unfazed by Netanyahu's Rejection of 15-Point Peace Board Plan

The United States is not concerned by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of the Gaza plan. Washington views the rejection as part of Israel’s political campaign, Axios reported.

“We understand Bibi’s (Benjamin Netanyahu’s) political needs. We have no problem with it as long as he continues to do what we ask, especially regarding restrictions on attacks in Gaza,” a White House official said, as quoted by Axios.

On Sunday (9/8/2026), Netanyahu announced that Israel rejects the 15-point Peace Board plan for the Gaza Strip. He stressed that the Israeli military will not leave the territory before Hamas is fully disarmed.

According to The New York Times, Hamas officials believe Israel is still cooperating with the Peace Board regarding Gaza. According to the official, Netanyahu spoke by telephone with Trump’s special envoy, Jared Kushner, last week. Netanyahu promised to give the 15-point plan a chance despite being sceptical.

Netanyahu also promised to limit attacks on Gaza so that the demilitarisation process could begin, according to the official. On 9 October 2025, Israel and Hamas, with mediation by Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Türkiye, agreed to implement the first phase of the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.

The ceasefire in Gaza came into effect the following day. Under the agreement, Israeli forces withdrew to an area called the “yellow line”. Nevertheless, Israel still maintains control over more than 50 per cent of the Gaza Strip following the withdrawal.
