US Unconcerned by Netanyahu's Rejection of Gaza Peace Plan

The Trump administration is not concerned by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of a Gaza peace plan and considers it part of his political campaign, Axios has reported. “We understand Bibi’s political needs. We don’t have a problem with it as long as he continues to do what we ask, especially regarding the limitation of attacks in Gaza,” a White House official was quoted as saying. On Sunday, Netanyahu announced that Israel rejects the Peace Council’s 15-point plan for the Gaza Strip. He stressed that the Israeli military would not leave the territory before Hamas is completely disarmed. According to The New York Times, Hamas officials believe Israel is still cooperating with the Peace Council regarding Gaza. According to the official, Netanyahu spoke by telephone with Trump’s special envoy, Jared Kushner, last week. Netanyahu promised to give the 15-point plan a chance despite his scepticism. Netanyahu also pledged to limit attacks on Gaza so that the demilitarisation process could begin, according to the official. On 9 October 2025, Israel and Hamas, with mediation by Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey, agreed to implement the first phase of the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. A ceasefire in Gaza came into effect the following day. Under the agreement, Israeli forces withdrew to an area called the “yellow line”. However, Israel still maintains control over more than 50 per cent of the Gaza Strip following the withdrawal.
