U.S. trains 24 RI police officers

SURABAYA, East Java: Two police officers from the United
States are currently training 24 Indonesian police officers in
Surabaya, East Java.

"The training runs from Aug. 26 through Sept. 20, led by two
instructors from the United States," East Java Police spokesman
Adj. Sr. Comr. Sad Harunantyo.

Called the Transition to Civilian Policing for Supervisors,
the training program aims to help police instructors understand
the procedures for handling civil unrest.

Topics discussed during the program will include values and
ethics, democratic policing, law enforcement, laws and
regulations, the management of change, and motivation.

The officers participating in the training program come from
East Java, Central Java, Riau, Yogyakarta, Bali, East Nusa
Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, the police academy and the Mobile
