US to Host Second Round of Israel-Lebanon Dialogue
Washington (ANTARA) - The United States will host the second round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, scheduled to take place at the US State Department on Thursday (23/4), a spokesperson told Anadolu. “The United States will host the second round of talks at ambassador level between Israel and Lebanon on Thursday, 23 April, at the State Department,” the spokesperson said. The United States welcomes the productive engagement that began last week on Tuesday (14/4). “We will continue to facilitate direct discussions and in good faith between the two governments,” the US State Department spokesperson added. Since 2 March, Israel has carried out strikes in Lebanon, killing around 2,300 people, injuring more than 7,500, and causing over one million people to flee, according to Lebanese authorities. US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon on Thursday (16/4), starting at midnight local time in Tel Aviv and Beirut. Meanwhile, Israel’s defence chief, Israel Katz, stated that Israel intends to maintain control over all territories it has occupied in southern Lebanon during the recent offensive. Source: Anadolu
