Berlin (ANTARA) - US Department of War officials have informed allies that the US will “adjust the size” of its contributions to the NATO Force Model, according to the U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) on Wednesday (3/6). A statement released by USEUCOM noted that the move is designed to align with Washington’s 2026 National Defence Strategy and the US Department of War’s vision for “NATO 3.0”. “There is an unhealthy dependence within the NATO Force Model on US troops,” stated USECOM Commander Alexus G. Grynkewich in the statement, noting that the potential reality of simultaneous conflicts across multiple theatres demands change. To offset the reduction in American capabilities, Washington expects Canada and European nations to increase their contributions in the near future, particularly in the provision of manned and unmanned aircraft, as well as naval vessels, Grynkewich revealed. The pressure for Europe to bear a larger defence burden is expected to be a primary focus of the military alliance ahead of the upcoming NATO Summit, scheduled to take place in Ankara this July.
