US Strikes Kill 30 Iranian Civilians and 7 Soldiers

Seven Iranian soldiers were reported killed after US missiles struck a military barracks in the city of Bampur, near Iranshahr in southeastern Iran, in the early hours of Wednesday (15/7). More than 30 civilians have also been killed in recent US strikes across the country’s southern region. According to a statement from the Iranian Army reported by the IRNA news agency, 13 missiles hit the barracks, targeting accommodation facilities, a guest house, and guard posts in what was described as an attempt to cause mass casualties. Separately, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani wrote on social media platform X that more than 30 civilians had lost their lives in the recent wave of US attacks targeting the southern region, without providing further details. US forces have resumed strikes on Iran and re-imposed a naval blockade on the country’s ports. A fragile ceasefire on 17 June between the two sides has collapsed, with the focus on control over the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump told Fox News on Tuesday (14/7) that he would expand US strikes on Iran the following week to target power plants and bridges if Tehran did not make a deal. Despite the scale of the attack, the Iranian military said passive defence measures had helped limit the death toll. It confirmed the seven soldiers killed were members of the 388th Iranshahr Brigade, with several others wounded and receiving medical treatment. The military condemned the ‘cowardly attack’ on the accommodation facility and vowed retaliation. ‘Revenge for the sacred blood of these martyrs is certain and imminent, and the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with God’s help and the support of other armed forces, will deliver a firm response to this aggressive act by the American enemy,’ the military stated.
